REDUCED TARIFFS UNLIKELY TO BOOST RUSSIA'S LOG EXPORT - Wood Based Panel, Woodworking Magazine

As a member of WTO, export tariffs on logs from Russia, the world largest log supplier are likely to decline. However, the lower tariffs might not help in increasing export volumes to pre-tariff levels, according to the Wood Resource Quarterly (WRQ).WRQ reported that log exports from Russia plummeted during the past five years mainly because of the country's implementation of a log export tariff of 25 per cent in 2008.Wood Based Panel, Woodworking Magazine
