TTR World Snowboarding Championships 2012 Highlights
Oslo, Norway played host for the first ever TTR World Snowboarding Championships. After ten years setting up the worlds biggest snowboarding tour, TTR and WSF, organised the World Snowboarding Championships as the pinnacle event of snowboarding, scheduled to be held every 4 years and featuring over two hundred of the worlds best riders. All eyes were on Oslo as the worlds media turned up to witness this milestone in the history of competitive freestyle snowboarding. The WSC kicked off with a quarter pipe exhibition event and a huge norwegian crowd came out to see the home grown legend Terje Haakonsen, and a field of international top riders compete. Oliver Gittler and his huge mctwists took home 30.000$ for the overall best rider of the night. In the women's Halfpipe event, Kelly Clark took her 15th straight halfpipe win in a row. Queralt Castellet came in just one point behind Kelly's score in second place and Gretchen Bleiler completed the podium in third. In the mens Halfpipe, swiss rider Iouri Podladtchicov threw down an almost perfect run to win the Halfpipe World Champion trophy,$40,000 USD, and 1000 TTR Ranking Points. For slopestyle finals the riders were greeted with sunshine, a pumped crowd and a perfect course. Canadian, Spencer O'Brien, took the win for the women, beating out previous ttr world tour winners Jamie Anderson and Enni Rukajarvi. It was a dramatic final as Chas took the win away from Canadian, Sebastien Toutant, on the last run of the last heat. landing his first ever switch backside 1260. The first-ever TTR World Snowboarding Championships has come to a close and has crowned four new World Champions for the sport of snowboarding in slopestyle and halfpipe disciplines. With the success of the inaugural event, TTR and the riders are already looking forward to the next edition slated to take place in 2016.
